What saved me, years ago, is the Microsoft Equation Editor. This way, you can use Microsoft Equations to display equations. Now, click File -> Update, or just F3 to return to your slide and you can see the equation embedded into the presentation. Then, the editor will open and here you can insert your formula or equation. This page refers to the second use of 'equation editor'.First, you need to click Insert -> Object and then choose Microsoft Equations 3.0.
Three possible workarounds:The only true workaround is to use MathType. If you double-click on any equation made in Prism, Prism will try to find the equation editor and when it cannot find it will show you the message: 'In order for this command to work, Microsoft Equation must be installed'. Microsoft was concerned about security holes in the Equation editor, was unable to fix it, so decided to remove it. But then Microsoft changed things: Message: 'In order for this command to work, Microsoft Equation must be installed.An update to Office in January 2018 removes Microsoft Equation Editor 3.0 (or 3.1) without asking. We don't know of any workaround. It appears that the problem is that the equation object uses Unicode, which Prism 7 does not support. Not sure when it stopped working. But beware that Microsoft removed them for security concerns and the Office installer/updater removes them.Equations copy and pasted from Microsoft Office 365 are unreadable in PrismIt used to be possible to create an equation in Word, copy it and paste into Prism. You may be able to find copies of Equation Editor 3.0 or 3.1 on the web, and download and install them. We know nothing about the company offering this fix.
Create your equation, select it all, copy, switch to Prism and paste. Use Spotlight to find Equation Editor, or browse within the Microsoft Office folder in Applications. This may be run by itself, not just as an add-on to Word or PowerPoint. MacMicrosoft Office comes with an Equation Editor (Apple iWork does not have a corresponding module).
